does your engine have oil filter?

if it does then it's a good engine, I have a 317 I put in newer engine with oil filter it has been running every.

More exactly, does it have the mounting area cast into the block for a filter? Many of the conversions were done with the oil filter not installed, and a cover with an internal oil passage installed where the filter was supposed to be because the engine shrouding for the 317 application interfered with the oil filter.

All engines that are series II have the mounting area for the filter just behind the magnetic clutch on the front (PTO) end of the engine on the RH side.

A series I engine WILL NOT HAVE an oil filter, OR A PLACE TO INSTALL ONE.

If memory serves, Tony is correct that a series over 24300 would be a series II engine. I is more accurate, however, to look for the filter mounting
area, as the series # is on the engine sheet metal, which sometimes does not correspond to the engine beneath the sheet metal!

The blower sheet metal also states series II
