SOAP BOX time again

I am getting real tired of seeing FOR SALE or WANTED ads in the discussion forums.

The good people here at YTMAG have allowed us the use of these forums to trade knowledge not to hawk our products or services. The rules are very specific. All ads will go into the classifieds.

Wish there was some way to get this accomplished. Maybe if those of us that are tired of seeing these rules breakers posting their ads would just ignore them completely they will go away.

Now I have vented and feel much better.

Dan

I wish that I could think of the title, but it escapes me now. I'm talking about a book that I read several years ago. It was basically about dealing with peoples "shortcomings". The theme of the book was that if you found yourself being irritated by other folks, and all the things they did wrong, YOU have a problem. You cannot expect everyone to follow the rules. Even more so, you can't expect everyone to follow YOUR rules. Yes, there is a set of guidelines about selling on the message board. Yes there is a free classified section. BUT...Do you think that some people aren't going to be "creative" and try to drop hints that they have what we all want, and they'll sell it to us if we ask them. Who knows, THIS message might irritate some people. Isn't this board about old tractors? And here I am, giving "Dear Abbey" advise. So what? Like the man said, If you don't like it, don't read it. That simple. Thanks for listening, By the way, I'm selling....Just kidding.... John

Dan, I sure hope I am not one of those who has offended you as I have sometimes had a hard to find part that I have asked "Does anyone know where I might find a ??" This is simply asking for some help in finding parts. When machinery is down and your farming, you need it up and running ASAP.

I don't see what's worth getting all worked up about. See, it's simple: some people are ALWAYS gonna follow the rules, and some people are NEVER gonna follow the rules. It's like that out in the REAL world, as much as it is right here. That's why there are still murders, even though there are laws against it. MY advice? Accept that it's that way, do your best to abide by the rules, and stop losing sleep over things you can't control...'cause life's to short to spend very much of it gettin' all worked up over somethin' you can't change. [Note to self: work on livin' this advice as well as passin' it along.]

Gooollleee !!!!! Since you are feeling better after venting, you should go to a different forum. As Les said. It is an information thing sometimes. And sometimes everyone does not visit all of the "FOR SALE" or "E-BAY" forums. I myself only read what interest me.----- deadeye

Isn't that the whole issue? If you're not looking for anything, then why get beat over the head with a lot of for sale ads. It does get tiring. Since this site does offer a free area FOR advertising stuff for sale, why be rude & abuse the rules? I sure wouldn't buy from someone that questionable.

Duh.

I'd have to side with Dan on this one. I'm not sure whether it is worth getting too up tight about, but all of us should follow the rules of the forum that Kim sets out for us when we post our topics. It is made pretty clear when you post your topic that "for sale" or "wanted" items NOT be posted in the discussion forums and I think the reason is pretty obvious. Can you imagine how plugged up the forums would get with 1500 or so ads showing up on them? I think the whole thing is pretty simple and easy to follow. There are a lot of ways to put an ad in here and they range from the full-out blatent "for sale" or "wanted" posts to other ways around the rule. Why don't we all just cooperate and do as the webmaster asks? Can't see any difficulty with that.

Sometimes people ask and others who have something to sell will respond. What is the problem with that? It's just trying to provide a service. That's the neighborly thing to do, ain't it?
Occasionally someone will openly advertise they either are looking for something or have something to sell. Someone else will usually point out the error of his way and life goes on. It ain't no big thang.

You said you vented and felt much better. I was looking for what you were then going to try to sell, since you were over your frustration.
