I have never tried to sell anything this big on the internet before today. But, everybody's doing it. What are your thoughts? I'd be interested in hearing what you think.

I have never tried to sell anything of major value on the net either, but have read several comments from people that have, most have had good results, some have been burned.
The one thing I have learned from reading these comments is, make absolutely certain the method of payment is good, and make an agreement that if the tractor is not picked up by a certain date, it becomes your property again.
Also, be prepared for the onslaught of offers from South Africa.

I bought a JD 2640 on Ebay and so far I am very pleased with it. I was very leary at first and unsure of bidding but I had been looking at these for a while and believed the timing was right. The tractor was just how the seller had described and everything is is good shape. Maybe I am just fortunate to get a good one but so far I am really pleased.

And I bought a Deere 2440 from a dealer this spring. I looked it over close. Drove it around the lot. Even hooked it up to a bush hog, to put a bit of a load on it. Looked good. It wasn't. I got burned. The lesson to be learned? You pay your money, and take your chances. Good luck, John
