Re: Hey indydirtfarmer in reply to KURT (mi), 09-18-2003 02:41:02
Thanks for asking Kurt! I was going to post the latest tomorrow. She will be released from the hospital, friday afternoon. At that time, we will get all the latest info from the doctors. She has a drain tube in her side, at this time. They are giving her I.V.s that cause fluid to go to the effected area, and then to drain out, flushing the infection out. She is also recieving HUGE doses of anti-biotics. They did the "exploratory surgery" last saturday, then a more complete surgery on sunday night. After two major abdominal surgeries in such a short time, she is VERY sore. The chief of surgery, at the hospital where the original (Appendix) surgery was done, has met with us. He has informed us that the hospitals insurance is picking up the cost of all the latest round of medical bills, and will meet with us at a later date to discuss a "settlement". We haven't really thought too much about a law suit. we are going to listen to what they have to say first. I have printed all of the messages from this board, and Sandy has read them over, and over. She was very touched by the outpouring of wishes and prayers, from folks that we didn't even know exsisted a few days earlier. This is a time of year that we are very busy. Sandy is usually my combine operator. She'll miss out on most of that, this year. That seems to bother her more than anything. She's worried about ME. I can't begin to tell you what it means to me personally, to have so many people, so concerned about us. It's very re-assuring to know that there are so many people pulling for us. It helps to build your faith in fellow man. God has blessed me in so many ways. All of this has made me think about what I need to do, to "return the favor" to the world around me. Once again, THANKS for the concern, John

We will continue to pray for her speedy recovery. I hope you can get a proper and just settlement with out giving a large portion to a lawyer. It is already good that you are not going to have to fight over the medical bills.

If we're totally honest, most of us (speaking from personal experience) wind up with a "better" wife than we could ever expect to have if life were really fair. It's very easy to "take 'em for granted" until something like what you've described pulls us up short. Good luck to you and her..... ...

Sure hit that one on the head. I lost the best wife any one could ever expect to have to cancer in 1994 and the one I have now is out of the same stock. I couldn't be blessed more.

Think there are a lot of us like you Newgen, didnt respond but still put a word in with The Man upstairs. Wish I lived closer, could give him a hand with the combine driving.

We appreciate the offer, but.... Last night, I got my WARNING! NO ONE GETS IN MY COMBINE. WOW! It seems that the little lady wants to get started combining as soon as she gets out of the hospital. (In spite of the fact that the beans aren't ready yet?) Dynamite comes in small packages. This little woman (105 pounds) might just put the whoopin' on me, if I let anyone get in her rig.

Everyday I pick up the paper and hear about some retarded lawsuit over spilt milk or silly product liability cases.

Yours seems like a real enough reason to sue those who call themslves professionals and those you trusted. D*mn right he is trying to settle with you quietly.

Thank God you didn't lose you wife. You got her back, that is all that really matters. Now you should both go after 'em so you can pay the maintenance on that $$$$ new combine and make your life a little easier when they made it alot tougher. Take her somewhere special. Also helps to keep them honest in the future. Let your conscience be your guide. (none of this is my biz' anyway)

When I was 22, I got drunk in Pennsylvania and wrecked my body for life on a motorcycle. Under the existing "host law" I was permitted to sue for big $$$$$$$$$ and huge settlements were being done at the time. I opted not to because I didn't feel anyone else was responsible for my exemplary stupidity. I am glad I didn't sell my soul to the devil (lawyers). They wouldn't have brought my body back. They sure did tempt a 22 year old though.

And while I'm at it...Did you hear the Taliban controlled region of Afghanistan has said that they will cut the noses off anyone caught listening to music?

Thank God we are free.

Name withheld :)
