I sold an oliver tractor on ebay a couple weeks ago for the sum of $760. The guy who bought it has 44 feedbacks %100 positive. I emailed him a the time of purchase and several times since, no replies. I recieved in the mail today two western union MO's for the total of $760. The only note that was sent was a piece of notebook paper saying "payment for Oliver 770". I find it strange that he never mentions anything about picking it up. On the other hand how could I get scammed with a MO?? What do you think??

Some Ebay buyers and sellers simply are not good communicators. It can be very frustrating. We have experienced much of the same, but with some patience and persistence, almost all transactions work out OK eventually.

When you sold the tractor on Ebay, did you list any specific information about picking it up? Many sellers will list specifics such as needing to pick up the item with 30 or 60 days, with penalties if the buyer doesn't. This motivates the buyers to quickly follow through on their commitment.

I sold a bush hog to "someone" in 1984. I get a phone message every year or so, telling me he is going to pick it up "soon". I don't know his name.(He paid cash) He blocks his phone #, and always seems to call when no one is home. When I sold it, I had just bought 2 mowers at an auction, and kept the better one, then sold the other one to this guy. Since then, I've worn out 2 mowers, and would like to either get this one gone, or start using it. I guess some people come about their money easier than I do.

There often is a phone number on the money order to call and see if it is valid. Try that.
Then email and ask the guy a question that needs a reply and see if that works.

Every thing is probably OK. Some times computers go down or loose E-mail address etc. switchboard.com can probably give you his phone number if you have his name and town. I would try to phone him.

At this point I would have to say it isnt a scam. The guy has nothing to gain by sending you MO's for exactly what you asked for. The buying scam going on out there is- You advertise an item(say$500) someone offers to buy it from you, they have a friend or business associate in your area that owes them money(say $3500, the so called associate will give you a cashier's check for $3500, he wants you to cash the check RIGHT AWAY, keep your $500 plus 500 for all your trouble and wire him the rest. He will make arrangements later. In the mean time, you have the feds knocking on your door wanting to know why you cashed a fake certified cashier's check. Apparently this gent isnt asking for anything extra. I would take the advise of the others and have them checked out by the bank first. And tell them the whole story, too, with your suspicions so they dont call the cops on you.
Good luck!!!!!

Most likely all right cash the checks send a email saying you got them & wait & see. I'm one of those people but I e mail before I buy asking if I can leave it there till I have a truck going that way I wouldn't worry at all about it. You might have your bank call western unuion if it would make you feel beter

I would go to the nearest bank and see if they are good. If so, email him back, let him know he can pick up the tractor. Keep a record of yours/his emails, just in case.

I say your safe!
Some people who buy on ebay just dont communicate very well, This goes both with sellers and buyers.
The reason you got two seperate money orders is because alot of money orders can not be bought for more than a certain dollor amout, if you look on the money order it will say what the max amount it can be drawn for.
Like was said in an earlier post e-mail him to let him know payment was recived and you will hear from him! he may drag his feet but you'll hear from him.
