First I'd like to thank everyone for replying to my first coupla posts , I think I'm gonna become a regular around here , this place has a great atmosphere. OK , down to business. I've just returned from looking at a 48 8N w/6' rear blade , FEL (w/hand dump) , all new rubber , nice tin , new exhaust , rebuilt motor & kingpins (the seller said the entire drivetrain was rebuilt and I could find no reason to doubt him , other than that I don't really know much about tractors), all around a great running and clean looking unit with no leaks (ran it for about 45mins) , he's asking $4300CAD ($3070USD) what would a fair price for this tractor be? I was thinking of offering him $3800CAD ($2700USD) does this sound reasonable? once again I thank you all in advance

My personal observations/estimates (these are by NO means scientific :-))

(all dollar amounts are US dollars)
Tractor (from your description): $1750 - $2000
6' rear blade: $100 - $150
FEL (manual trip): ~$500

Total: $2400 - $2650.
That's what about what I'd figure, around here (Houston, TX area). From what I've seen/heard around here, Canadian prices on N's seem to be a bit higher.

Don't know as it sounds like you'd really be going wrong to offer $2700....

FWIW
Steve

I agree with Steve, your offer is definately in line. You say your taking his word on the rebuilt engine, does he have any receipts? Even if he did all the work himself there should still be receipts for parts and machine shop work. I know I have always been very forward in offering up proof of work done when selling something am offering as rebuilt.
