Based on information received here and elsewhere, I am potentially looking for the following models. Is there anything to look for / be aware of for these: Ford 8000 MF 285 IH 756, 856, 706 Case 830, 930, 970 White 2-70, 2-75, 2-85 Oliver 1750, 1755, 1800, 1850, 1855, 1865, 1900, 1465. I am really concerned with major problems, (understanding that prior use/care is a big factor), and am hoping to avoid what may be obvious to you who own/know these. Thanks very much.

Make sure you stay away from the Arbuckle Plow Jockey model F, especially those with the single rear wheel. Nothing but trouble with those air operated hydraulic units. I know from experience ... if you see one advertised, burn the newspaper it came from immediately and forget you ever saw the ad.

Ditto Larry's comments. He is dead on the money. I own one Oliver and have been looking for a deal on a bigger Oliver. Based on comments from Larry and others, their collective experience, and wonderful insight plus some of my own research I have settled on trying to locate a WFE DSL 1650.

Lots of wisdom shared on these pages, you are doing well to heed this. Regards

What is wrong with the IH 706, 756, & 856 tractors? The time when they were built IH had some of the best workmanship.

unless you have prior expierience and dealer support in your area, i'd stay away from white and oliver. The IH models will be the easyest to find parts for. ford 8ooo is a good tractor bu not as common.
