What do you think the best buy for the money is today on a new tractor? I have 66 ford 3000 diesel. I've gone through the engine and the simms injector pump. (the pump hurt) It's a solid little tractor now and I plan on keeping it for light work. I'm working 110 acres of pasture for cattle grazing. I want something at least in the 60-70 hp range. Mostly used for mowing, disking, seeding, fertilizing and the such. I don't really want to get into making hay but I may half to. I think I can keep decent winter pasture and cube cheaper than haying. Thanx for your advice.

I'd get a B100 New Holland if new. Used, I'd try for a 5610 or 6610 in that size range. Personally I prefer the 7610/7710 series. That would push you up into the mid 80's on hp.

Ya, I'd love a new B100, but I'm afraid that'd be outta my price range. Is it true ALL tractors are made across the creak now? I ain't real crazy about mahindra, belarus, zetor, and the such, although I here they ain't bad machines. I was thinking at looking at a new Massey and see what they could do for me. I here parts are easy to come by on them. I want a new one alright. For me, parts on old iron is real high. I probably got more in my 3000 than it's worth or at least close to it.

CNH compacts are now assembled in Ga. Utility's and mediums up to 150hp in UK and other parts of Europe. Everything in the 150+ range is assembled in US. Components are sourced from around the world. The B100 should be a good tractor, based on the 10 series. A legend in my opinion. The B's are quite basic with 8x2 tranny's. Made to compete with Kubota as a cheap second tractor idea, without all the features, but they still have good hydraulics, engines, etc. B100 would be a derated 7610, with 8x2 or 16x4 trans. and genesis engine. Also has revised styling. If I was going used, I would take a 7710 over a 7610. 77 is a flat deck, with floor mounted shift, instead of the column mounted "rubics cube" on the 7610. I also think you would find the B100 quite comparable in price with the Masseys. I don't know anything about Mahindra's, but the Zetors and Belarus are poor. Bad casting on both, and very poor engine on the Zetor. No life. Belarus engine, probably more reliable, good on fuel, and can lug very well, but a crude crude tractor. Just my opinion. Happy searching.

Try looking for a 7610. I bought a black stripe (lat 80's/early 90's), low profile/orchard model for $7500. Had just over 3000 hours on it. I had to add hydraulic remotes ($500) and a battery but that was it. My personal bias is against Massey but that's just me. For parts costs and reliability I love those series Ford's.

Some of the Massey tractors are built in Hesston, Kansas, along with Gleaner and Massey combines, Challenger (Cat) equipment, and a lot of balers.
