Kevin: Wow--the problem you're experiencing with your 560 is exactly like the one I'm currently experiencing with my 460. The hydraulics work initially but when the oil gets hot after some working time the hydraulics just go away. Last spring I had to head to the shed early during our Tractor Club's annual Plow Days because I could barely lift my plows out of the ground. I must add that I've had this problem for so long that now the hydraulics barely function when the oil is cold. Haven't had time to dive into the problem.

So you replaced the pump and didn't gain anything. Well that's a bummer because I'm planning on doing that, too. (Just missed buying a used pump take-out from a parted out 560 for $250 this summer--dang! Someone got there first! Maybe it was you?)

Again, I'm fixin' on getting into the hydraulics this winter so I can't help you with any past experience. I can say for now that the IT manual for our respective tractors stresses the importance of having a perfectly good O-ring seal on the hydraulic pump suction tube. My neighbor (an IHC freak) tells me the slightest nick in the O-ring will allow the pump to suck wind. Apparently this O-ring can be easily damaged during pump installation. I hope everyone with any experience with this problem jumps all over this post. I will be tuned in to say the least!

By the way--is your power steering pump and system functioning OK?

Joe How hot does your 460 hyd get if the unload valve does not unload the system it well get hot enough to burn your feet through a goood pair of boots. If this is the case you will burn up the pump. On the 460 560 you can the controls valves from single to double by just turning the valve spool a little a rool pin is through the spool for a stop if that is not set right it can cause high pressure and heat. that adjustment is right in front of your feet should be hole in the tin cover that has the brake lock on it. Kevin I would check this as well, you may need to check your relief valve it is in behind the same tin cover, that valve has 4 3/8 cap screws holding the cover on the valve the unload valve is in there as well you will need to take 2 screws out across conners and get 2 longer screws because the relief spring is heafty and it can bight if you are carful in taking the cover plate off. Make sure the unload valve is clean and good oring on it there is a very small orfice in the piston it must be clean. hope I gave some help.

Aces: I wouldn't characterize the tranny/hydraulic oil as getting real hot. Let's just say that when the oil gets to normal operating temperature during a summer day is when the sytem poops out. Another symptom of what I'm experiencing is a continual whine in the area of the hydraulic pump and maybe from the control valve body area. Prior to me adopting this 460 from my late father, it can be said that the hydro system rarely worked properly even when there was sufficient pressure produced by the pump. I recall the fast hitch arms not staying at the level you set them at with the control lever--seems like that wanted to "hunt" up/down a few inches all the time. Last time I disked with the 460 it didn't produce enough pressure to raise our transport disk unless you were running near full throttle and even then it was maybe. I don't see an easy way to check the pump pressure output unless I buy a special adapter fitting to screw into the port on the pump's side.
