Looking at purchase a 1946 Ford 2N tractor serial number 9N238738. What should I look for, the engine uses oil and most likly need a rebuild. Has a finish mower and two plows with it. What is a good price for it also.

Hmmm. I paid $2000 for my 2N about 7 years ago. It uses a little oil but that's about all. It came with no implements.

Depending on condition and brand, the mower might be worth anything from nothing to $800 or more. I've seen single-bottom plows go for anywhere from $50 to $250 depending on who's at the auction.

There's so many things to look for in buying any 57 year old tractor. Here's a site to help. When you get to the home page, click on "FAQS" then click on "Buying an N". It's a really good dissertation on what to look for when buying one of these machines.

You should know that the 2N did not have position control on the 3ph. Addition of a Zane Thang will cure that. Go to the Ford 9N, 2N, 8N discussion board on this site and type "Zane Thang" in the archive search box for more info.
