I have never worked on an Oliver before, but a neighbor wanted me to hook up an auxiliary valve set (3 levers) to his Oliver 1850. He was told that there was a pressure port somewhere under the seat where we could plumb into to get pressure directly from the pump. I have taken several pressure readings from different ports and all of them need the "lift arm" lever to be in the full lift position, so as to bypass the relief valve and supply pressure. Is there something I am missing here? Is there only pressure at these ports when the lift arms are all the way up? We want to be able to use the lift arms and still have the factory remote levers free....

The aux. levers are for running a loader and hay handling attachments. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Go to archives under Olivers, you will find how. Otherwise I just got done doing this last week for my hay grapple. 1650 Oliver, put new loader and my hay forks on it. In brief here what do. Sit on seat look down left side front top corner will see a 1/2inch plug, remove now look inside you will see threads install 3/8 inch plug inside, hook 1/2 inch hose up now. This is pressure side. Look straight back same side will see 1/2 inch plug top back corner, this is return. You can get valve bodies thru Bailey Bearing alot cheaper than most places. I choose a 3 valve(open center) with float option on first valve. Look at the Archive under Oliver and you will find more info If I have confused you.

Rick, thanks for the advice, but I pulled the 1/2in. plug and there are no 3/8in. plug threads inside the port that I can find!

I will keep looking!

Chris

Sitting in seat it is plug right to left of fill cap at about same level. You take this plug out and flashlight look inside you should have threads back inside housing. Rick

OK, I found the 1/2in. plug; removed the 1/2in. plug; inserted the 3/8ths in. plug; installed the hyd. hose; and then tried the hyd. valves..... The 3pt. lift arms DO NOT WORK! The 3/8ths plug STOPS all flow to the lift arms, PLUS the bypass chatters!

Back to the drawing board! Anymore suggestions?

Chris

You have to hook up the RETURN LINE also. Did you do that sounds like you didn't. Mine works fine, you have to have intake and a return!!!. Rick. The valve you are using is it for OPEN CENTER. Rick

Even though Oliver tried to do the right things on
their equipment, we're now left without anything
but the hard-used, good working tractors they gave
us. We were fortunate to get the first 'big' modern row crop, an 1800A(checkerboard), in 1960. With 18.4x34 tires(loaded), a great field pulling
tractor. There was nothing to compare, kind of where things are today. Once Allied sold White to
AGCO, any trace of Oliver-White was passing. Now,
all these badges are AGCO's, but connect with nothing they manufacture. Seeing ShepVA's site,
re-powered 1655, photos, was a smile-bringer.More
power to him, AGCO should give him assemblyline
privileges for his devoted efforts.

Huh? What are you talking about? How does your post relate to me trying to mount an aux. hyd. valve asembly on the 1850?

The hydrolic oil must be plummed back into the houseing correctly so the rest of the system will get the oil it needs to work. This is an open center system and the oil flows through all the time.
