I have an 8N that seems to always leak fuel unless i shut off the fuel line. anybody else have such a problem? the carb was rebuilt to correct the problem but it still continues. I think it might be the needle and how it sits in the bowl. any ideas? thanks

One factor you might want to check and that is making sure the floats are not making contact with the housing. With carb empty turn it over and listen for the float to flop freely inside.

Just about everyone that has an N ford, or an old motorcycle has that problem. That's why the petcock has a shut off valve. The valve should only be opened when the tractor is running.

Aloha, If the needle has a neoprene tip, it may have something stuck on it creating a leak or the seat could be bad. Most likely it will be the float not adjusted properly or faulty. The float may be saturated if it is the type made out of that plastic material or if it is a brass float, it may be leaking. Hope this helps.

Mahalo,
Howard
