beware of sam coffey (samc@charter.net)he agreed to buy some JD manuals I had for sale.he said he sent a money order, then after a few weeks it had'nt arrived,he said he has had trouble sending stuff to NY. I told him we'll wait another week to see if it comes,it didnt,so I told him to send payment again and if I got double payments I gave him my word I would send 1 back.he said he never agreed to the price in the first place.so Iasked him well, how much did you send the first time?? and we have'nt heard back from sam..... ...so if he wants to buy something from you, ignore him,you will end up wasting a month on a deadbeat like I did. steve

I buy and sell anything that I can make a buck on. Mostly older farm equipment. I can't begin to count the number of people that have told me they are going to buy something, and I never hear from them again. I tell everyone that gives me that line, leave a deposit, or it's the first one with cash that gets it. Money talks. My dad always said, " Untill it's in the boat, it's just a fish story."

Steve, just because a guy didn't buy from you isn't a cause to smear his name on the board. 80% of the people on the want ads say they will buy from me and am sending a check, most of them never do. I have people winning an item on the auction that never follow through. I guess a lot of people have second thoughts. This board is not for blasting people, especially posting their names

tom,it's not that I'm pissed he did'nt buy something from me,it's that he SAID he sent money, meanwhile I am turning other people away.I dont know if you are familar with EBAY, but there is a feedback section where you can leave your comments about your transaction. good, bad and ugly. that way it takes some of the fear out of dealing over the internet. as far as posting his name,I dont feel bad at all. I have sold alot of stuff over the net,and have had very good success, but I dont feel sorry for someone lies. they are in the same boat as bad check writers in my book.

I agree with you Steve, if someone is going to buy something they should go thru with it. Also with Ebay, when you place a bid it tells you plain as day that "your bid is a contract" and if someone has agreed to buy it, they should send payment and be done with it. Otherwise if they are not going to send payment or their dragging their feet, they should not bid or say they want to buy it. Just the way I feel. What ever happened to honest people anyway? I had something similar happen, had a few people looking at my tractor, and contacting thru emails. I sent them pictures, and they said they would be very interested, but after I sent them pictures it seems like they just dropped off the face of the earth! I don't know, but it can hurt a guy for selling things. A guy says they will buy something, and you turn away some other potential buyers, and then the one doesn't go thru with the deal. One thing a guy told me when I bought something(can't remember what it was), was "I will keep it listed, and however sends the money first gets it." So say its for sale until someone sends you money, and if a different payment comes in from someone else, send the money back, and then tell them its sold. You could try it that way, it may be rude but that is one way not to turn down other potential buyers. Just my $.02 worth.
