In a couple of weeks, my brother and I will be having our second annual tractor show at our campground in Woodstock, NH. It's a small affair but interest in it seems to be growing. Last year, we just had a parade and a couple of working demonstrations in addition to the tractors being on display. This year, we are going to have a slow race, a barrel chase and a poker run.
I'm looking for suggestions for prizes for the winners of these events. Something maybe in the $10 to $20 range that every tractor owner could use. Only thing I can think of is a gift certificate to NAPA or something like that but I'd rather have an actual prize to give.
You thoughts welcome.

Most shows that I have been to give each entrant, who brings a entry for the show a small plack about 2 1/2 by 3 or 3 by 4 describing the event and the date. Generaly any trophy shop can get these fou you. Then for the contest for the winner they generally give an engraved small wall plack that describes the event you can hang on the wall. Have picked up 3 of these in the last 3 years. Just won 1 July 4th At Sheridan In for the Slow Race. J D 530 2 Min 53 Sec to go 100 Feet!!! Then some time they just give a ribbon. This should give you some more Ideas.

I was at a show a couple of years ago where they had an old shingle mill set up. After the demo they took the shingles and branded them with event name and year and sold them for a dollar or two. Looked like a nice money maker and momento to hang on the wall (or unique trophy).

Thanks for all your suggestions. I already have hats to give to all who bring tractors. F14, I like your ideas. Maybe I'll snoop around a few of my favorite haunts and see what inspires me.
Maybe I can get NAPA to donate. Got a CarQuest place in town, too.
No TSCs around here. If there was one, it would probly stand for "Tourist Supply Company". ";^)

You know Les, awhile back I was involved in a show like your talking about, in case you end up with too many prizes, we had coffee mugs(tractor themes)shirts, screwdriver sets,JD li.plates, engraved drinking glsses,we also gave prizes for the oldest model, the furthest travelled tractor, most original and a people's choice award, this way everything stayed honest. Most everyone got something.Just some suggestions. Thanks.

How about Gift Certificate to Tractor Supply? Or maybe go to a TSC and purchase some inexpensive items, like ratchet tie downs, wrench sets, etc.

Hand Cleaner?

Small hand tools, like a plug gapper or crescent wrench, maybe a multi-tool, or a pocket knife?

Signs, like "Farmall Parking Only" or "Tractor Parking Only"?

i like the idea of pocket knife cause it can be put away and handed down to younger generations along with a story. how about the silver eagle American 1 dollar silver coin. the 2003 cost 6.55 each or ten/65.00 at coast to coast coins (800-638-8869). they are kinda big, heavy, shiny, look good and is dated. next year you could get the 2004 dated coins

If you are looking to the marketing angle, a shirt or hat is a good idea.

If you do a NAPA certificate, talk to Napa - you might get the certificates reduced, if you are mentioning them at the event....

Aloha, what about a hat or shirt with something embroidered on it about your annual event.

We have a campground. That's where the event is held but it's only a one-day show. Maybe it will grow to more than that but first I got to try to figure out how to at least try to break even on it.
I am not into pulling. I don't want to turn this into a pull. I would rather see the tractors working at something they were built to do. Some of the people who come are into pulling. I told them if they want to have a fun pull, they will have to organize it themselves. We have the room but, for me, I'd rather waste time.
