I would like to get some information about this tractor in order to make a decision to buy it.
The tractor is in working condition except the drive shaft for the front wheel kit has been removed for dry pavement use(I guess there is a problem with the gear ratio's so they recommend removing the drive shaft for use on dry ground.) Anyway the owner has never used the 4wd and the shaft is off. My question is should the drive spindle turn freely into the "pumpkin" for the front axle or should this be a direct link to the wheels. Also if anyone has information about the aftermarket kit and how to get information about parts and repairs please e-mail me back.
thanks Mark W or call 585 422-1472

Mark,

Tony Jacobs, is the person you need to talk to, he has the specfic knowledge and parts source. His phone #1-413-267-5087. This time of year he is rather busy, call at a decent hour and leave contact info if he's not imediately available. Do talk to Tony, he walk you through a good check out and be able to give an approximate and/or range of $$$ to repair if anything is suspect.

I tried to email you, but your email address was hidden.

What you probably have is an Elenco 4wd conversion kit on that tractor. The remains of the Elenco company was bought several years ago by Tony Jacobs. He hangs around the Ford board but posts infrequently. If you go to the Ford discussion board (not the Ford 9N, 2N, 8N board), and type "tony jacobs" in the archive search box, you should find some posts from him that will contain his email address. He sells replacement parts for that system and seems to be the guy who knows the most about it.

Good Luck.
