I need a small tractor to cut a pasture and has been hard to find. I know of a 1957 Farmall 100 that has been reconditioned---repaintedand new tires and looks like new, Askng pric is 2800.00---I would like to know what his tractor can do?? I believe it is a single hitch. Does anyone know if it has any hydraulics??
What size mower can it handle??? Would appreciate any help. Regards, Ron

As the others said, a 5' mower is right for a 100. $2800 isn't too bad for around here. The offsets are very popular for mowing. Woods makes a deck that has the Fast-Hitch prong on it for the 100. It should have hydraulics.

The 100 was only built through 1956. A 1957 model would be a 130.

You have several responses. Let me see if I can add. The cultivision Farmalls including the 100 are excellent small tractors and are willing to work hard. They excell in cultivating and will support all the garden you want to work if the cultivating equipment comes with it. Otherwise, there is a problem as the custom designed equipment is a little hard to find (there are alternatives but nothing works as good as OEM equipment on this tractor).
Regarding rotary cutting, IH made a custom rear mount rotary cutter (4 ft) designed to mount to its lift system and attach to the offset PTO which worked well. But, I think it will be nearly impossible to find one. I don't think one of todays off the shelf rotary cutters will work without a lot of creative work well.
There is a great option. There are several modern belly mowers that work well on this tractor for light and medium cutting. I would use a 5 ft model.
The tractor does have hydraulic lift but does not have remote hydraulics if that is what you are asking. The tractors weakness is its lack of 3pt hitch which would make it compatable with modern off the shelf equipment. 3 pt conversion kits are available. If the tractor has one it is a plus.
Summary, the 100 can be a very good grass cutter but does not have versatility of tractor with 3pt hitch.

Yes the 100 is a good tractor, especially for row crop cultivation. The problem is that the PTO is located high and to one side. Not a problem for stationary work but makes turning difficult when towing a mower. If it has the hydraulic adjustable rear hitch you will be limited to straight ahead or turming right. hope this helps. Rob.

Ron: The 100 is around 18-20 hp, and should handle a 5' belly mower with no problem. The price sounds a bit steep, though I've seen them sell for more. It depends as much on where you live as it does on the shape of the tractor.

It depends on if it is OK mechanically, new paint can hide many problems. I would want to know exactly what all was part of the "reconditioning".
The tractor is essentially a Super A, and they are a good small tractor and it should have hydraulics.
