I Have a long 610 deisel tractor with a leaky water pump, which I will replace. But I did notice that when running the tractor for a short while with the leaky pump, it tended to pressurize the raditor/cooling system to the point of forcing water out the overflow. I'm wondering if there is a small head gasket leak to the water jacket causing the pressure build up?

actually, a leaky water pump can sometimes draw air into the system with the engine running creating a symptom like you describe. replace the water pump then check again.

Aloha, it could be that the impeller is damaged causing the engine to overheat. Actually it could be a number of things like a bad thermostat, leaking head gasket or not enough coolant.
