ok here is a question I have had, and have been trying to find through searches on the net, maybe I aint doing it right, is there a a book or website anywhere sort of like a NADA book for used cars to get an idea of what a tractor is worth?I am thinking of starting a business selling older working tractors, been buying most of them at auction, but having difficulty finding values, and selling prices, I have been selling some just at what I think they are worth but wnted to be fair, and not lose money either, any help would be appreciated, pat

You can go to WWW.IRONTRADER.COM and view the archive of classified ads. Most tractor ads have prices, but you have to remember these are asking prices and are for the western states. Selling price can be different than asking price.

For the tractors that arent real "antique" (after 1945 or so, try the "Used Tractor Price Guide" by Intertec publications. You propably can link to a site where you can buuy it from this site. Also, for newer tractors check Fastline.com. hope this helps along with the other posts.

I browse this site and others (including eBay) and watch the asking or reserve prices and the closing price. I also go thru the photo ads and classified items to get an idea of current prices. When I compare these to my areas' figures I have a pretty good feel for the current market. Recently, a guy bought an Oliver 60 from an individual here; he did a valve job and added a used but serviceable battery, he then traded it to a dealer in 'antiques'. The dealer is asking 4 grand for the 60 which had sold for about 1500 two weeks prior....talk about inflation! :-O Yikes!
