I am just getting started into the wonderful world of antique tractors (I have a '51 Massey Harris Pony and a John Deere MT '50ish) after being introduced by my dad. Reaching the ripe old age of 30, I appreciate these much more than I did being drug to numerous antique tractor shows. Can anyone recommend a good book or manual that helps in getting started with antique tractors, particularly the models I mentioned? Thanks in advance.

If you are going to own these tractors for a period of time and maintain them correctly, then here is my recommendation: Go to dealer and get the REAL manuals, not IT or some other off brand. Get 3 manuals Operator Manual, Parts Manual, and Repair Manual. You need all 3 if you can get them. Often the Parts Manual has the best exploded views of detailed parts. Consider the cost of the manuals as part of the tractor costs. You will save money in the long run.

Thank you for your help. Being new to antique tractors, I have found these discussion boards a great help and an excellent source of information. I would hate to even try to quantify the years of experience and knowledge available here!
