Int backhoe won't swing

My 3414 backhoe swung real slow, so I figured the small pump that runs the steering, stabilizers and swing might not be putting out enough pressure. I tee'd into the main pump and got lots of pressure and flow, but now it won't swing unless I pull a dipper, boom or bucket lever, then it swings great. I think I may have a bad relief valve, but can't isolate it. Has anyone else had this problem??
Thanks

Sounds like you have an open center vale. It basicaly dumps all the oil back to the resivoir untill a valve is open. There may be a power beyond port on the main valve. that would give you the pressure you need. If not you will need to get a proportion (maybe priority) valve to split the flow. You could do it with a manual type valve but that would be a pain to switch while using.

Good Luck Don

Thanks Don,
I checked and cleaned all accessible valves today with no results. Went to the dealer to look at parts book, but they never handled the indusrial line so didn't have them and the next one is 70 miles away, so I may try a post asking someone to email me the pages.

I have the same problem, what did you find out. Do you still need manual pages?

You are right. It is some kind of relief valve. It is really quick to fix. Whatever valve it is sticks open. I called an industrial dealer and he told me how to fix it. I would tell you how, but I did that almost twenty years ago, and I've already forgotten just how to fix it. I don't remember anything about the machine other than it was International. Your description of the problem is what jogged my memory of the whole deal. If you can't get it, I will try to come up with more information.
