I can't seem to find out exactly what model tractor I have. The hood says Ford 900, but the previous owner says it is a 960. The serial number is 5668157-01.It has a four cylinder gas engine, narrow front end, five speed transmission, live pto, and three point hitch.
It's supposed to be either a 1963 or 1964.

If anyone knows something about this tractor I would greatly appreciate it.Thanks

It sounds like the middle number will be a 6 - "x6x" because of the 5 speed & live pto.

'xx0' were not made in the 60's, it would be a late 50s tractor.

Or, it would be a 'xx1' model if it's newer.

The 9 tells us it is a taller, row-crop model with the bigger engine, with the rear axle stepped down to the wheels.

You will find the serial number stamped (by hand so it's uneven) into the cast lobe right below the air cleaner. Wet your finger & rub across it, they can be quite light. You should see the full model number (such as 960) along with a few other numbers & letters.

Often they have power steering, but I guess it was still an option. Do you have the older vane hyd pump, or the newer piston pump? (In front of the brake pedals.)

It's a 900 SERIES, MODEL 960. The 6 means 5speed with live PTO. The 900 series was made until 1957, and then became 901. Serial # doesn't make sense to me, maybe somebody else on here can figure it out. You'll find "serial numbers" on the left column of this screen. This site has tons of information if you look around.

Hi, Folks.
I'm looking at a 901 Powermaster, 5 SPD, 4 cyl. Diesel, with "live PTO".
Can anyone tell me the approximate HP?
Also, it has the narrow front end. Could I buy a wide front end someplace to replace the narrow? If so, would anyone know where to begin to look?

Thank you very much.
Sincerely,
Zeke Hurd
