Not to long ago someone ask me, how I had done at the pull in Tunica MS,very proudly I replied in the top 10,which with maybe a little luck I had. Now, this was the white sled, out of approximately 60 tractors on this sled.I was not expecting to do this, therefore I was surprised and overjoyed at the same time. He,then told me,LYNDEL TAYLOR was in 6th place on the Mean Green sled.I was so mad I couldn't see straight!!
I looked before I left...because this is not the first time,he told of "kickin' butt" when it wasn't so!!He wasn't even in the top 25 and if anyone cares I'll post the actual sheets,I had copies made just for this reason.Everyone wants to win but come on...WHY DON'T YOU TELL THE TRUTH???If you lie someone is going to find out,if you want to win that bad then do it ,don't
BS it!!!I'm not saying I don't embellish a story myself occassionally,we all do,but I don't tell bald face lies.

If you got in the top 10 than you done good no matter what wieght class you were in.There were lots and lots of stiff competition there.I was there Friday and Saturday but no tractor for me(mine was in the shop freshening up the power plant)just spectating.Tunica is one of my favorite pulls of the year. What class were you in and what did you pull?Later,Jack(TN).

I guess I've never been to a "real" tractor pull ... any of the stuff I've seen up here at shows has probably been what you call the "fun" variety. I didn't realize it was like pro basketball or hockey. Think I'll keep going to the fun ones, the real ones sound a bit scarey to me.

Quit reading into the message,I didn't say any thing about "REAL" tractor pullers. My point was just have fun,be humble and enjoy yourself and to TELL THE TRUTH!I'm sorry if I scared you,all
of our pulls and shows are fun,we don't let 1 bad apple spoil the basket.

yea i think i will steer clear of the "real" tractor pulls too especialy if guys like "honest john" attend them, hate to see such a genuine rural tradition go the way of professional sports

I've never entered a tractor pull.

I understand your point, HJ. Seems to be the problem with all sports, business, whatever - the biggest mouths 'win', while the nice folks get swept aside.

I have one problem with your messages, HJ: You keep saying, "You" to people here. To me it sounds like you are blaming every single person reading your messages. I would expect you will get a lot of flack from being so confrontational to people who are, perhaps, innocent of your charges. You might benifit from a slightly different choice of wording. I can understand your frustration with those who do lie, but please don't blame all of us for lying - 'we' are not!

Point Taken, the message was only intended for the FEW pompass,as you say "loudmouths",that can't stand to lose.THEY know who they are and it does not apply to the majority! I attend shows and pulls all over the mid west, mid south and always have a wonderful time.
Many times I have went home in last place, with my pride hurt, only to laugh about it the next day with fellow pullers: it is just for fun! AS, a friend says"if it did't pay so good I would quit,HA!" I'm sorry if anyone except the intended was offended,be happy.
