i found an old adams leaning wheel grader in a field. i was just wandering if anybody has any info about these implements. it is about 25 feet long and a man rides on the back of it. it is towed by another tractor. it has 4 rubber tires on it and they are capable of leaning to one side or the other by turning a pair of large handwheels on the back of the unit. please reply back and let me know if anybody has heard of these implements.

I have an Adams leaning wheel grader No. 21.
SN 344. I would like to know a little more about this machine. What year was this made? What was the original color? Did it have rubber tires?
I would appreciate any factual information that anyone could provide.
Thanx

My father (long deceased) told me that here in Indiana years ago each township was responsible for road maintenance. The township would own several of these type machines. When farmers had spare time they could contact the township trustee, take their team of horses and use the grader on local roads (most all gravel roads back then). They would then get credit off of their property taxes for doing such work.

The J.D. Adams company of Indianapolis IN, built many graders of this type and various other types of road construction equipment. There are many models of the leaning wheel grader. The model number is usually on a plate somewhere on the grader (if it's not missing). Model number is usually a one or two digit number.

Have adams grader on steel I bought for 200$ in Iowa. I guess some people paint up and put in front yard. my wife nixed that idea, so I converted it to 3-point& it works great for roads.
