MY brother put new belts on a 76 Bolens G14 then the rear end locks up when he stops. Can some one please give me a idea. HE said he opened her up and it looked like new.

I recently picked up a g14 aswell, and I'm trying to figure out the same thing. The rear end is locked up. At the moment I'm rebuilding the motor, so she doesn't run. But if I need to move it I use my old sears GT20 to pull it and with a bit of a jerk it will start to roll. When i stop and try to push it by hand it won't budge? Can anyone help me with this? thanks, Ken

Ken, This is a excerpt on what I found researching the same issue. Greg
..."these tractors have a pin locking the rear axle - look just inside the right rear wheel and pull this out and it will freewheel. This is a feature that keeps the tractor from rolling on a hill when the clutch is engaged or when it is sitting in nuetral."
