Hi Ameya,
We don't import them here in the states, we would just buy one from an existing tractor dealer that has already paid the importing. So there is no way anyone of us would know unless he/she is a tractor dealer that has done it and they probably wouldn't want to let that be public information. However, the cheapest one that I have found is listed from a company in California. They have a website and I think it is WWW.ChinaDieselImports.com If that site doesn't come up, try it in a search engine as chinadieselimports. Seems as though they wanted $6400 US for theirs. Maybe you could buy one from them and have it shipped from the factory to you. If you're interested in this, give them an email for a quote. If they're interested, they'll get back with you. Fred

Ameya,

I doubt too many in the USA are adventurous enough to personally import tractors from China. Most are sold through local dealers who buy them from an importer.

But, there seems to be a website called www.chinaimporters.com that has most of the brands of tractors you are looking for.

Thanks Steve.. truly appreciate your help.
Do you think going in for a Mahindra will prove to be beneficial in the long run because I have heard a lot about the expenditure incurred while maintaining a Chinese tractor.
What is your feedback on the parts supply and after sales service extended by them?
Do let me know.
Regards
Ameya

Ameya,

You're welcome. Hope it helped somewhat.

There's a general lack of experience with the Asian tractors you're asking about here in the US. For example, I own three John Deere tractors -- the dealer is 4 miles away, and the factor is 300 miles away. I imagine most of the people you'll reach on the old tractor board also own American made tractors that are at least 20 to 30 years old.

You might try on the "today's tractors" board, there are a few discussions of Chinese and Indian tractors going on there. This url is one.
Link

My general opinion is that I'd trust a brand made in a demand economy more than I would one made in a command economy. That is, India over China. Second - the Mahindra is based on a US International Harvester design that has been around for a long time. I have no idea where the Chinese designs come from. My guess would be they're copies of Japanese tractors.

There is a Mahindra dealer 15 miles away from my place. They have only sold them for a few years, as Mahindra has only sold tractors in the USA for a few years. Not much time for a lot of information. They do offer a two year warranty on the machines here... which probably means something good. There is no one close to here selling Chinese tractors, and the warranties are not two years long.

My experience in dealing with Oriental makers -- Japanese and Taiwanese -- is that they don't like to supply spare parts. The Honda Accord car has been the most stolen car in the USA for a number of years. Reason is: it is very difficult to get body parts for them. I'd guess you'd have similar problems with the Chinese tractors.

Also, you're talking to mostly flat land guys here. The only US people who would have experience with tractors in terrain like Nepal are some guys in the Rockies and along the Pacific coast. I know that you probably need a 4 wheel drive machine that's fairly close to the ground -- but beyond that... I have no real knowledge.

I know this is an important investment for you. So the best advice I can give is to gather all the information you can before you make a decision.

Good luck

Steve

If this is not a hoax, then check with your trucking company in your area to see how much the shipping costs are.

Thank you everybody for your advice. But I seem to have not clarified my requirement clearly. Since some of you may be owning Chinese tractors, whoever you imported them from must have quoted you a CIF or an FOB price. In Nepal, being in close proximity with China the transport charges are not all that high. But the price that I am being quoted, is comparitively much higher. So if any of you have been quoted an FOB Beijing price on any of the makes please do let me know, so that I can know whether the exporter is asking for a greater markup or if the transporter is swindling me. My budget is very restricted and so I am looking for a Chinese tractor, else the option of importing an Indian make 4WD, 25-35 HP also exists, the cost being higher. I appreciate your help. Thank you. Ameya.

It is not a hoax. The internet url listed with his name check out as being in central Asia.

Welcome to our tractor board, Ameya. However, the advice you requested is not going to be available from within the U.S.

I agree with Dave, you are going to have to find some local contacts and see what prices and shipping are in your area.
