I made one from a piece of 7/16 grade 8 all thread rod, two pieces of 5/16 steel stock, a washer and a nut. I have less than 3 bucks in it.

We made ours with a piece of ready rod and some flat iron. Just get a machine shop to make the part that hooks on your sleeve. I would never pay more than $25 or so for a manual sleeve puller set up as such.

For the money you are talking I suppose it has a hydralic jack of some sort?

I got one out of the Central tractor (Now Valu-Bilt) catalog about 5 years ago. It was a manual job that worked like a gear puller. It had a long threaded shaft and an bar that it went thru. You put blocks on either side of the sleeve on top of the block, and and a 1/2" disk on the bottom of the cylinder. When you tightened it up the disk pulls the cylinder up out of the block, works real good and cost around 70 or 80 I think. It's not shown in the catalog but they may still have it.
