Hi , true story - I had a neighbor in colorado that worked at the same sand and gravel company as I did . He apparently had never changed a large wheel loader tire before . I was over a mile down valley and I heard the explosion . They think he had over a hundred pounds of air in that huge tire and he was standing on top hitting it with a sledge trying to seat the retaining ring on the rim . He and the tire supposedly went in the air over 40 feet . That tire and rim weighed about 1200 lbs maybe more . He lived through it but spent a year in the hospital with almost every bone in his body broken ( literally ) . I moved here to Iowa so I don't know how he turned out but the prognosis was not good . This was twenty years ago but the message is the same - DON'T OVER-INFLATE TO SEAT BEADS ! ...Randy

Also, if you are mounting the tires while the wheels are still on th tractor, make sure the tire is not hanging on the rim. Lower the wheel until the tire is not touching the top of the wheel. This will center the tire on the wheel and the bead will seat more evenly. If the wheel is off of the tractor try to center the wheel in the tire before airing it up.
Use all of the safty precautions already mentioned

Believe what the others said- regarding psi- way too high. I just did some duals- ran them to 25 psi, rode them down the road, but they still would not seat. Popped the bead, brushed them with soap/water mix, and reset them, aired them up and they set properly. Sometimes I pump them up, do the hammer thing, etc, and let the air out again. Always use the soap and water thing. Sometimes it takes 2-3 times, inflating and releasing air, repositioning the tire on the rim. But never pump them as high as you did. They can blow up and kill you.

Hope im not too late. But before you air it up again check for your pocketbooks sake that the tube is not pinched between the rim and bead.

I agree with what everyone else said: WAY TOO MUCH PRESSURE!

I usually won't use more than 20 psi. If it won't pop up all the way, but bead is started, I put the tire back on the tractor. Make sure it's soaped up and drive it. The tire will flex as you drive around and pop all the way onto the rim. Don't try this unless the tire is started onto the right ledge of the rim.

Just did one like that this afternoon, worked great.

Gee after 10 years mounting tractor tires you guys got me scared. But all that is said is true and I wouldn't suggest a novice use more pressure. But I have two comments. One is a ready available lube that is fine to use is vegetable cooking oil. The other is that unless you have a death wish never stand beside the sidewall of a tire (any tire) that is inflating. That is a rookie mistake. Use a clip on chuck and stand by the tread and no closer that you have to.

About the only thing I can add is if it"s still not mounted to carefully eyeball the bead for any production irregularity--out of round, thicker area, etc., especially if it"s a new tire. Quality control has been gutted, and a lot of stuff that used to be thrown away or sold as seconds is in with the relatively good stuff now. Good luck.

Years ago , I had fixed a 40 inch rear tractor tire. Wasn"t paying attention to how much air was going into the tire. I turned to get out of the way , as I saw the bead rolling up off the rim. The blast through me against the house , as well as pealed wood clapp boards off. Yes , you can get killed.

As some have mentioned soap it up good and pound the side wall of tire with a 2 to 4 pound hammer while under 30 pounds of pressure it should pop right out.

40 psi will blow your head off!! DEFLATE THIS TIRE NOW AND TAKE IT TO A LOCAL TIRE SHOP. YOU HAVE ALREADY PUT YOUR LIFE AND/OR OTHER PEOPLE'S LIVES AT HIGH RISK BECAUSE YOU EXCEEDED THE MAXIMUM 30 PSI BEAD SEATING.

Yes, I AM yelling at you, for your own sake.

Liquid dish soap and lots of it. 1967 was the SUMMER of LOVE in San Fransisco. 2007 is the SUMMER of FLAT TIRES here. I've dealt with 6 SO FAR. Liquid soap let's 'em bead up with 10 to 15 psi usually (provided rim is clean and NOT too rusty) It helps getting them on the rim too, besides just getting them to bead up.

First off let the air out NOW, NEVER use more then 30PSI to seat the beads or you may end up dead. Next brake the bead down again and make sure its even all the way around the rim. Go in an steal some of your wifes dish soap and coat the tire real well with it. Now air it up slowly and make sure you do your best not to let any one place come up before the whole thing. Ya you can't stop it but you can slow it down some. As it airs up take a hammer and hit the tire in the areas its not comeing up. Also NEVER Get your fingers between the tire and the rim or you may loose a finger. By the way 40PSI in that tire now can or will cause the tire to pop off the rim and take your head off when it does. Most tires say 30PSI max to seat the bead. Been doing tires now for over 30 years

I'm by no means an expert on this subject....

But i'd let the air out, coat it up good with Murphy's soap, and then air it up again to 35 or so and see what happens. It should seat long before then with a good coat of soap. If it doesn't, take the tire maul and start tapping the tire along the leading edge where it is seated. That should help pop it up in place. Beyond that I don't know what to tell you. That always worked for me.

Be careful with the air pressure. Take tire loose, make sure all the rust is off the rim, the get some tire slic'em and put of the tire and rim and as you pur pressure on it hit the tire with a big hammer, the vibration from hitting the tire with a hammer will help it slide into place, but it will be very dificult without some kind of lube on a dry rim and dry tire.

Careful with that air pressure. Friend got knocked with concussion when new tire blew. Release all air pressure , remove tire from wheel, use proper lube and apply generously to both wheel and tire. Tom

Did you slather it up with rubber lube, to make it slide on the bead easier?

If you don't have any rubber lube and have some electric wire pulling lube, try it on the bead. It is the slickest stuff you ever saw. Makes installing foam insulation on air conditioner lines so easy ,you won't believe it.
