Hi Gang;
With the weather about to break and rain forecast all week, major panic to get the last fields of silage into the clamp. Photographers dare'nt stand in their way!

Looks like my area right now :)

I was very surprised last Friday -- it was supposed to be showers on Saturday, saw a crew just arriving at a field with the Claas forager and dump trucks to haul the grass back to farm for silage at 8:20pm. Field was all windrowed, but they had a good couple hours worth of work by lights ahead of them. Don't see farmers working in the fields after dark very often out here.

Interesting, around here rain wouldn't stop the chopping. In fact, there's times farmers will set up a sprinkler on the pile to add water when packing. Then again, this weekend and yesterday it was 90+ with mid teens for humidity, with wind. Nothing stays wet for very long... different than most parts of the country.

Baled silage took over here about 20 years ago so you rarely see forage harvesters. Plastic prices have been increasing the last few years and guys have been cleaning out their silos and pits to get away from plastic.

I don't know too much about it. Lots of those sileage wagons still sitting around though.
