Concrete cleaning

Off topic question, but hoping someone
has a solution. My ol dog, which I fear
is nearing the end of his road, had a
stomach virus causing him to get sick on
my polebarn floor several times as he was
ill and recovering. Let's just say these
stains make oil stains look good. Anyone
have a good proven solution to make floor
not look so bad? Not looking for
perfection, but they are currently
pretty obvious looking as to the source.
Thank you in advance.

Same as for cleaning tractors and everything else that gets bad. Potassium Hydroxide, also known as caustic, most readily found in dollar store oven cleaner. It won't attach the concrete like an acid will. I just happened to notice the 4x5 foot area yesterday where some acid got spilled twenty five years ago. You don't want to trade one bad look for another. Epoxy paint is great for a protective coating but you want to get it very clean first.

I'll second the oven cleaner, drain cleaner works too.

But, depending on the nature of the stain, it may have etched down into concrete from the stomach acid. If that happened not much can be done beside painting it. But once painted it will be constant maintenance keeping the high traffic areas covered. Epoxy will hold up well but expensive.

Just a suggestion, haven?t try it on this but might try some spray disc brake cleaner!! Personally I like the 3M brand!!!

Sprinkle powdered laundry detergent on it, lightly wet it down and let sit over night. Then re-wet the next day and scrub with wire brush. Will be the cleanest part of your slab.

This might work. I've never used it for what you want but has always worked on oil and fuel stains. Good Luck.

I clean oil stains from concrete with Blue Dawn dish soap Pour it on right out of bottle, let set for day or so. If its outside I let rain wash it off, if its forecast in next couple of days. Otherwise use pressure washer or garden hose. Comes off with no problems and no scrubbing. Figure if its safe to use on oil soaked birds and animals after major oil spills, it is safe to just wash it off and it works.

I used Muratic Acid on the floor at work and it actually etched the concrete. I plan to put epoxy paint on the floor now.

I have had pretty good luck with a product called super clean it?s a degreaser I have used it to etch paint on equipment before painting it?s pretty potent stuff worth a shot.

Apache_58 brought to mind we spilled some brake cleaner on some new blacktop, less then a year old. My wife got on the internet and recommended Tide powder detergent. Same process. The brake cleaner etched it just a little but that blacktop is still there. Paul
