I would like to see what other uses some of you guys have come up with your tractors and loaders, beside scooping things up and setting fence posts. I think this could be interesting.

Had well pump failure one cold day in Janurary. Took a 2" pipe tee, reduced the center to 1", screwed it to the galvanized pipe of my well, ran a chain through it and hooked other end to the back guard of the bucket, and pulled the 10 ft sections of pipe up, clamped them off below the coupling, removed that section, put the tee on the next section and repeated till all 80' were out. The only helper I had that day was my 650 J.D with the 1050 IH loader on it for pulling and replacing the well pump , added benefit was warming fingers in Janurary with exhaust heat. Also enjoyed the fact It worked all day without grumbling or hesitating, or quarreling about what I paid it!! When I have something to lift, push, pull or shove, my solution is to let JOHN DEERE do it!! Gene Davis

I have used down pressure to drive steel posts. It is a 2 man operation becuase one has to walk along and stand the post up for the loader to come down on post. I have also put a chain on loader and rap chain around and round a post and taken them out but this is a 2 man operation as well to get a bunch of posts out in short time. I have also used loader for scaffling and shingled eve's of steep roofs off of them and delivered all material to roof with the loader as well. I have used manuer buckets with narrow teeth to pull small dead trees clear out of the ground enabeling me to pile them and leave no stumps. You just wedge trunk of tree between teeth and raise up and if it slips it will soon catch a limb and it will pull right out if root system is dead. Note I said small trees. There is no end to the use if you get handy with one. You just got to use your own judgement as for the safety becuase many jobs you will come up with may very well not be safe in regards to the manufacturer. The closest accident I had was one time I was pulling a post with a chain and had someone else running loader. After the steel post was pulled the operator lowered the loader. Before I could direct the post or move my foot the post came down right on top of my foot with loader on top of it. The operator just happened to see the loader on top of post and quit going down just in time. If he wouldn't have I suspect the post would of went right through my foot, shoe, and all. It all happened so fast and I am just lucky I wasn't hurt. Just remember safety first. I myself am sure I take to many chances with the above jobs so just remember to not overide the safety issue.

We've actually done some digging with a 420 loader on our new John Deere 4300. We were doing a bathroom at a new commercial plumbing job.

I have a 1050 JD with a JD loader which is used for cleanup work and light clearing. Thickets and old barn sights have been responsible for most of the front flats I have had. The problem can be reduced by running 6 or 8 ply tires with sealer in them but sooner or later that big nail or thorn will get you. I have used the downpressure of the loader to raise the front axle so that a jackstand or blocks could be placed under it. After removing the flat I then placed the wheel under the edge of the bucket and used the downpressure to break the bead. A 12volt compressor and a patch kit can have you back up and going in about 20 minutes. I have three red tractors which are smoother and stronger, but that little green Yanmar is a pitbull!

Lifted rolls of felt paper and bundles of shingles when we were re-shingling our house and garage. It was a lot easier than carrying them up a ladder.

We get those hard to reach apples and blackberries with our loader. Boy, do the kids appreciate the easy picking!

Firewood hauls easier with a loader.

I mounted a 4" square beam on my bucket and used it to lift and pull the engine out of my motorhome.

While I have done it myself in younger days using a loader as a scaffold, no more. Construction & industry have banned the use of "unapproved" lifts for personal use.

Well, I have a Johnson loader on a JD 140 L&G. With the pallet fork it is great as a paint shop helper. I put the smaller pieces on old pallets for painting, then move them to my paint drying area and can paint another color without chance of overspray.
