i managed to convince the misses to take some pictures of me chopping and filling.
Opionons?
i'm not done yet since i got another 15 acres cut and gonna chop part and bale part yet
i got 36 acres done inabout 10 hrs. seperate days though

Looks like a Meyer's and Badger boxes? whenever we chop any type of hay or anything other than corn we seem to have some issues with the blower plugging up- Ussualy run water up with it to give it some more slip, but still manage to plug the pipe atleast 2 times for 8 loads...

What part of the state are you in?

I'm from western Wisconsin i basically live on the WI/MN Border. I have 3 Forage King Boxes and a Badger and a H&S "X-L"

man, I miss those days. Kind of reminds me of the scene at the base of one of my silos, except it was a 5020 on the blower and a 70 LP running loads. I had 102 stalls on the pipeline and 18 for dry cows so we had 4 silos to fill. There is nothing like the smell of fresh haylage going up the pipe. I appreciate the pics, makes me look forward to the day I start milking again.

Good Lord! There are people that look forward to milking? I can see looking forward to the income. At 17 years of age when the last milk cow left our place I dropped to my knees and gave thanks.

There are a few of us that enjoy the cows, for some goofy reason. I started shipping milk from 6 cows when I was 19. I got into a bad personal situation and had to get away from the farm after 7 years milking. Its been 7 years and it drives me nuts not having the animals. I am raising up a small herd of swiss heifers to be my next start. Hope to get started again before I get to old,lol.

i have always liked cows as long as i can remember.i worked on a few dairy farmers when i was lots younger knees not up to the up and down in stall barn anymore. cows i have now are beef. lot less work and i still enjoy them

Understand the knee issue, my grandpa milked in a stanchion barn till he was 81, had both knees replaced in his 70s. My knees are still in good shape, my hands are having troubles from Carpal Tunnel from the last 5 years landscaping but surgery is going to fix that this fall, in order to be in good shape for milking again. There is just nothing like walking into a barn and smelling fresh feed and 2 lines of cows looing at ya. Every one of my cows knew what stall was thiers. Not everyone understands but I am sure there are a few people who really enjoy cows.
