I have one for a lawn ornament in my yard. It's been in pieces for the last three years. It's a real sore spot with the wife. She wants me to sell it but, I would like to get more than scrap price for it. The engine seems to run good and has a lot of power but, I have broken the drive train more times than I can count. krum

I still own a 1740 case skid loader, it has a 40 HP case diesel. The 1737 is the gas engine version(37 HP) of the same machine. Run away, don't touch, don't even take it as a gift. They have a 3 shaft gear box that connects the engine to the hyd pump on one end of the gear box, and the variable speed belt drive on the other side. This drive setup will need major repairs every 400 hrs or less, parts were getting hard to get the last time mine went down about 10 years ago(Mine was built in the early 70's). I use mine as little as possible, when nothing else will do the job. Might put 5 hrs per year on it. The control levers operate mechanical forward/reverse clutches on each side. The loader will lift about 6-700 pounds before falling on its nose. Actually the rest of the loader is quite good, if it only didn't have that**&&%$*&% drive line setup.
If you want a cheap older skidloader, buy a Bobcat. They are everything the 1737 Case should be.
