Play with your speeds. If too slow, the bale will be shorter on the front side, if too fast the bale will be longer on the back side... Gene

feeding pickup in reply to ironsales, 06-11-2007 10:42:32
As others have stated try to change adjustment holes in feeder forks but always feed pick-up too extreme RH side(standing behind baler). This helps auger to distribute hay to plungerhead. Tightening one side or other of rear pressure(weight tensioning) springs won't fix problem. Tx Jim

Check the haydawg springs. Exspecially the ones underneath. If a spring on one side is broke, it can't hold the bale back out of the way for the next fill of the chamber.

If your bales are shorter on one side it means less hay is being fed to that side. Adjust your feeder "fork" accordingly. (I'm talking about the cast teeth that takes the hay from the auger to the bale chamber)

Maybe I should clarify that I'm not talking about changing the timing. There should be different holes the link on top can be set on.

I like Lumbrs suggestion, those left n right bale chute tension adjuster cranks ought to be set just about the same. I had trouble makin square bales when the windrows were real small also with JD but it seeemd New Holland with those rake in fingers did better in light windrows.

Check and see if your eject chute is set correctly. seems like you got one side cranked up tighter than the other ? this also is how you set the weight of your bales , tighter the setting the heavier the bales .....

I'm gonna go ahead and disagree with the bale tension comment. They should be roughly even but even with one side as tight as can go an the other unhooked it won't fix a problem with even a slight bale banana.

So adjust your feed forks, in light windrows try to pickup at the far side of the pickup and speed the pickup up and drive faster to keep it crowded.

Mine works great in what I call light hay and has banana issues in heavy hay. It can't stuff enough to the far side of the chamber no matter how I set the forks.

Not missing any dogs or hay resistors either.

Like Ken said. I was have a hard time with my NH310. Adjusted and adjusted still nothing worked. so I ran the tractor up and kept the baler full. The bale started dropping out real nice bales.

I agree! I had trouble with my NH baler last year until I figured out its secret! If it is baling and you hear the governor on that tractor surging ! OPEN UP THE THROTTLE !!! and Slow Down...when its surging it wont bale correct !
