I believe you are correct. The plug you took out is the pressure port if my memory is correct.

I have an 1982 brochure for Bolens and there is a picture of one in there, so they made them as late as 1982 at least

I have a 1967 Bolens Estate Keeper that is powered by a 10 HP Wisconsin TRA10D. I have rebuilt this machine from one end to the other and I love it. There are a few transmission gears I couldn't find, but I'm getting by. I've had it for 7 years now. It's built like a tank and it handles great. Too bad it's out of production. The 42" deck is just right.

I have a 1963 Bolens GK, which is also articulated in the middle. It has a 16 HP twin cylinder Wisconsin, hydraulic controls and a 60" deck. It also came with a blade that can be steered hydraulically. It is a TANK and is very reliable. I don't understand your comments concerning their reliability, but I guess everyone has different experiences. I try to keep fresh oil in it and keep it lubricated. Also, if anyone needs parts for these older tractors, there is an outfit in Pennsylvania that has almost anything you want. I can provide their phone number if anyone wants it. They would be able to answer any questions concerning the Estate Keeper.

I have what I believe to be a 1963 Bolens Estate Keeper. That's what the original tag says. It has a 7 horse Wisconsin engine with a 32" deck out front. My Dad bought it from a junk yard. Overhauled the motor, rebuilt the deck and it cost me $200 total. I have been using it for 21 years. It always need something. They all do. My wife mows the lawn because she loves to drive it. That's the plus. I wouldn't sell it or trade it. I can keep it going for years to come.
