Central Illinois, on the Illinois river, about 35 miles north of Peoria.

The Amana show is the annual Allis Connection show in Homestead, IA. AC on the west end of town and MM on the east end. Strictly show and shine with a parade at noon. MM from the east and AC from the west. you get to see the whole parade twice! June 16 and 17.

These are a group of small villages, located southwest of Iowa City, in Iowa.

They are a frequent site for various agricultural expositions, such as the Farm Progress Show, and sometimes the TWO CYLINDER EXPO.

They are also the site of an early attempt at communal (Communist?) living. They have an antique sort of flavor and are the location of an "Amana" Refrigerator or perhaps air conditioner factory.

Likely will go. In the past have tried to go Saturday to the Amana Colonies MM and A/C gatherings at Homestead. Sunday go to the much closer Lacon show. It's best to go early on Sunday, because many will pull out around 1:00. Saturday is the best day to go, and with the price of gas, probably will forgo the Amana trip and instead go to Lacon on Saturday.

Yes, got a little ahead of myself. The Lacon show was usually on Father's day weekend and it has changed. Really like the Amana Homestead shows, but it is too far with gas over $3.00/gallon, and someone needs to conserve. From my vantage point it certainly isn't going to be the Gen-X'ers or more pungently, the Hip-Hop'ers. A lot of the MM's are local, but I wonder if display tractors as well as attendance will be hurting at Amana, and moreover at other shows this year. The Lacon show is only around 15 miles from the farm and I have considered driving something up, but so far have only trailered once. There is not alot of interest in displaying tractors since the children have grown up, and never has been much shown by the significant other.
