13 inch tire rim trivia.. 5 lugs, any ideas?!?!?

Me and a friend of mine found an old, nifty (homemade?) farm cart that could be pretty handy around the farm... It's missing a tire/rim. In order for us to keep it intact and not remove the little fenders and keep it "original" we need to use a 13 inch tire and rim. It's a 5 lug 4 1/5 bolt pattern, and the rim looks like a small basic Ford car rim (hubcap style) from the '70's...
For the life of us, we can't think of a 13 inch car rim that used 5 bolts. A Chevette was our closest guess, but that as we recall used 4 lugs... I remember that mini car from the 50's / 60's and maybe a Nash, but not sure.... We know we can get a trailer tire, but we're more perplexed as to the car that other rims and tires came from... That's why I'm asking this as a trivia question!
(besides, we think it would look cool with moon caps!)
Thanks in advance,
Clyde

Gm's X-Body cars (Citation, Skylark, Omega, Phoenix) had 13", 5 bolt wheels standard. I am not sure of the bolt pattern, it seems like it was a metric pattern...maybe 100mm? The Pontiac Fiero had the same bolt pattern. The larger GM's had a 115 mm 5 bolt pattern.

Seems like some early Chevy II with the V-8 had this pattern. The Ford Econoline pick up used this pattern, still have one for a hose reel up on the wall. Also some of ther dmasll Rairlane V-8"s from the 60"s

the chryslers( dodge & plymouth ) used a 5bolt and I think it was 41/2 inch bolt pattern just need to watch to see if it was on disc or drum brakes a difference in the center of the hub section and the dart ,valiant were smaller than that like 41/4 inch pattern disc wheel will fit both I think and drum only drum all out of the 60'searly 70's

I remember getting some 13 inch wheels off of Ford Fairlanes that had the 5 bolt 4 1/ 2 inch pattern with the larger center hole that fit nicely on boat trailer hubs. There were some AMC 13 inch wheels with the same bolt pattern - maybe from a Gremblem ( spelling ? ) but they had a center hole that was too tight a fit on some hubs or had to be ground out. We changed a several trailer to the larger, wider tires to keep from sinking in soft bottoms on rental rigs. I might still have some in the shed.

We had a Chevy Citation that was five bolt with 13" rims, but I don't know the bolt circle diameter. I still have several of those wheels around for free if anybody wants them.

Ford compacts with V-8 engines used these, sixes got 4 lug wheels. 1963 to 1967 Falcons, Comets, Mustangs,Cougars, and Fairlanes. Some Mopars also like Valiants, Darts, Barracudas, and Challengers of the same era both sixes and eights. If it just gets to be too much of a challenge, most trailer supply outfits can get em for about $20.00 each.

5 on 4-1/2 is for Allis front, some skid loaders, boat trailers. Big difference would be in the countersink whether or not its 60 degree or 90 degree.

The 1962 Falcon, at the farm (450 miles away) has four hole and I think maybe 13" rims also me thinks, that some wheels there, from a 1984 Tempo are 13". They were 4 hole for sure. The later Tempo had 14" but same 4 hole bolt pattern. Look closely and see if there is a name (like Ford) on your rim. Get yourself a couple of Tempo rims or get back to me.

If all you are goping to do is pull it around the farm (no high speeds) you don't need to machine the rim. Just take any wheel with the correct lug pattern and a 13" wheel. Carefully layout a circle at what ever diameter they will mate the best on both of them. Then cut carefully with a torch leaving a little stock on the hub portion. You can use a disc grinder to clean up the cut surface and transfer the actual cut from the rim part to the hub portion. Grind to the line and it should fit plenty good enough to weld together. I have done this several times to make wheels for plows and wagons, etc. and it has always worked for me. Good luck,
Paul

Hi Clyde,

I bought a home made canoe trailer last fall same wheel size and bolt pattern you have.

I got a spare rim and tire off a ford ranger, it was 14" instead of the 13" on the trailer but the bolt pattern fit.

The salvage yard thought the 13' ones on my trailer came off a ford pinto or falcon.

Rick

Look for a wheel and tire for a boat trailer or a small utility trailer.

Here is one way of doing it: find yourself any size rim with the 5 x 4 1/2 pattern on it, then find a 13" rim. Take both to the machine shop and have the center from the 5x4-1/2 put on the 13" rim.

Sorry I can't be of more help... my 5 bolt Ranger had 14" tires.

Well, I can tell you where not to go! Chevy Vega, Monza, Buick Skyhawk .... All used 4 lug wheels. I have a utility trailer, has 4 bolt 13" wheels. Those I listed are all the same wheels, fit fine, once you open up the center hole. Suggest you look to some of the smaller Chrysler cars, some of them were 13" 5 hole wheels. Do they still make 13" tires????
