The Springfield garden tractors were built by the Quick manufactorying company in Springfield, Oh10.
That is aboot all I know about them, except there are some at the tractor shows I attend in the summer.
In 1952 my dad bought a new two wheeled walk behind Springfield, it was a tough little tractor.

We had a Springfield riding mower many many years ago. The type where you sit over the motor. Had an odd reverse in it. One speed forward with a belt drive, but for reverse, you pulled the lever back and a shoved a brass ring on one of the pulleys up against the other pulley and the friction caused it to go backwards.

I've got a 3-1/2 HP Springfield tiller. My mother in law purchased it new in the early 1960's and used it in her half-acre garden for 40+ years. It's tired now but it still works well - I use it once or twice a year.

You can't buy a tiller today as well-built as that old Springfield!
