Thankyou for the thoughts & kind words. As before, they are as good or better than medication. Speaking of which, drinking lots of fluids and raisin bran for breakfast is a good idea. When taking iron supplements to assist blood hemoglobin replacement. The Dr. is one of those hurry, hurry, hurry scurry, ram, ram rammy types. He must have nicked or dinged something. Or didn't take the time to ensure the bleeding had been properly stopped from his 1st tinkering. That was 4 days before the bleed out became obvious. I was really hesitant to accept blood products unless absolutely required. No screening system is perfect however the risk of blood born disease is less than having one's circulatory system run too low on volume. I was too stubborn while in the hospital and didn't do myself any good by hesitating getting a transfusion. The bleeding wasn't slowing down enough and my platelet level dropped to 38% of my initial pre-procedure numbers. The bleeding out was faster for a while than the flow of transfused blood in. Levels that low have apparently been fatal to other people. The wife says I must have got some female blood as I've never been so b*tchy". The bleeding went of for at least three days before winding down. Without being TMI, I looked and smelled like a gut shot deer. It's a good think I went to the hospital when I did instead of dilly daddeling around. Many people hesitate too long. As there are too many people who run to a Dr for every little wee bump, scratch, sneeze & sniffle. My sister picks up the dead or nearly dead on a regular basis. They had hesitated around home in denial of serious symptoms until too late. Speaking of sister. There was a bunch of hospital people in full pucker mode as she tracked through my records. Tests were missed & items not prescribed. I'm even scared of my sister. The ward I was on was very sobering. Room after room of with patients sporting brand new colostomy bags. Sobbing patients and distraught family members were very depressing. If these people had bothered with regular checkups either before symptoms appeared. Or better late then never, went to the Dr when problems became apparent. They would have had a simple out patient procedure and saved everybody time, money & grief. So just because something went wrong this time. Its no excuse for anybody else to avoid seeing the DR. because of my luck. I had somebody wonder out loud why God was punishing me with the broken leg then this bleed. All in six months time. I have not been so tempted to throttle a person in years.

Be a good patient and heal up as fast as you are able.

Hi BD,

Well I just don't have any luck with doctors. I've seen so many in the past 15yrs that I've learned to come home and research before agreeing to any procedure/meds. When I come back with questions then I get the " I'm the Doctor" look.

Every procedure I've had done, something has went wrong so I'm more than gun shy. I'm scheduled for catract removal in Dec and if I wasn't almost blind in the eye that bothers me, I'd skip it. As it is, I'll take the chance to see again.
