Brush Hog Wheel

I got an old 3 point "brush hog type" mower in a package deal last year. With a little tinkering, I managed to get it working just fine. However, the rear wheel wants to turn sideways all the time and I don"t know why, or how to correct it.The darn thing tears up the ground wherever you go with it. Other than removing it..... ... Any ideas on rectifying the problem????

Thanks.

Paul

Thanks guys. It was something that I would never have noticed. But, after looking much closer at the single, 2in. square tubing arm that extends from the main body to the rear wheel assembly, I discovered that there was a substantial bow in it, causing the vertical spindle to tilt forward. As a result, the wheel simply followed gravity, and its offset axle caused it to turn facing sideways. The previous owner(s) must have lowered it hard.... repetitively!

Thanks again.
Paul

I agree with the others.. baring a mechanical issue like a bent mounting fork.. lubrication / binding is the next thing to look for..

Try lubing the pin, I have the same type and that is what happens when it is binding from lack of lubrication. No charge this time for the advise.

Only thing that comes to mind is that mounting or "fork" may be bent, not allowing it to"caster" easily.Should work just like a big furniture caster,if "stem" and fork are vertical or slightly trailing.
