I just pulled this pressure washer out of the barn. I’ve searched over the net trying to find an owner’s manual, and came up empty. I’ve never used a pressure washer before, and could use some guidance from the knowledgeable folk on this board.

Here’s the specifics:
Bradson Model # PWV02013
2.0 GPM
2000 PSI
Tecumseh 6.0 HP engine

First off, does the pump use oil for lubrication? If so, does it use engine oil, or does it need a separate kind of oil?

Attached is a picture of the underside, with the pump inlet and outlet. There are two round plastic plug-looking things, one yellow and one black. The yellow one rotated about a 1/4 turn by hand. I couldn’t get the black one to turn at all by hand. What are these? Are they plugs, or valves?

How do I drain the engine oil out to change it?

Anything else I need to know about operating or maintaining these things?

Lastly, is this a decent pressure washer, or some Harbor Freight cheapie?

Thanks for the reply, sorry for the huge pictures.

After searching around, it looks like a FAIP Pump #PK16860, according to>Link

The>Link website has a parts breakdown, but it just lists the top (black) plug as "plug," and the bottom (yellow) plug as "oil drain plug."

Does this mean I can drain the engine oil by pulling out the yellow plug?

No. The bottom yellow plug will only drain the oil from the pump.ONLY THE FAIP PUMP. To drain the engine oil, either get the gas out of it and tip it over and let the oil drain out of the dipstick tube, suck it out with a oil pump or there might be a plug low on the engine to drain the oil or..there might be a plug under the engine. It'll use straight 30wt or 10-30 or most any engine oil.

I'd just get it running to make sure that it all works before I would start changing oils. Just make sure it has oil in the engine and in the pump.

Remember, you have the pump and you have the engine, they are seperate units. The pump uses syn and only 4 oz and the engine uses engine oil and about a quart.

Gotcha--that makes sense, I be the black plug is the fill plug for the pump. If you wanted to change the pump oil, probably pull the yellow plug to drain it all out, then fill it through the hole with the black plug, until it starts to run out of the hole, just like in a car rear end.

those are oil plugs...as I said they pull straight out after you turn them...I forget which way..That's a medium performance washer and it'll run about #300-400 new and some less on sale. The brand on it..Brandson or whatever it says, just assembled the engine, frame and pump...they didn't make the components. A very similar one will be a Devilbiss and maybe some others like Sears. It's not a HF cheapy. Most times, it's the pump that is bad because someone didn't periodically run the water and it overheated or it wasn't winterized and it cracked the bottom manifold.

That's a Faip pump. Look it up on google. The oil in the pump is probably 15-40 synthetic and must be that, no other. It'll take about 4 oz and shouldn't need changing. The plugs come out hard but you turn them that quarter turn and yank. Don't run the washer without the pump pumping water, it'll burn itself up and it'll cost you over $100 to replace. Always winterize the pump in freezing weather and you should use RV antifreeze....pump it through the inlet which is the tube on the right as you look at it. Stick a short piece of hose on it and funnel in antifreeze until it runs out of the other end.

You can let it idle for a couple of minutes without pumping water but you should trigger the wand at that point.

The engine is one manufacturerer, the pump is a different manufacturer and there are several manufacturer's of pumps. To me it looks very much like a Faip.

That's about it in a nutshell.
