Any of you fine folks out there have access to an old Cutler Hammer catalog? I have a breaker box in my shop that I need a cover for. The box number is CH30JM200. 30 circuit and a 200 amp main breaker. I haven't been able to find a cover from the local dealers as they tell me my box is out of production. I haven't been able to find any info on the web either. Can anyone tell me what cover I need?

Thanks

J

Speaking of salvage yards.....

Take a pic and write out some of the opening dimmensions and visit your local salvage/recycle joints, most stockpile to strip out the alumn and some of the covers may still be on or lying about.

im a retired electrian i use to measure the size of hole i need for the breakers to go through and find any make that would fit that then drill the holes to fasten it to the box many times they make the newer ones larger so you modify good luck art

My late Uncle was an electrican from the 40's, up in the 90's. He used a lot of CH products. I have a shed full of his leftover electrical stuff, quite a bit of it NOS, including a FEW CH breaker boxes and covers.

I know there are some CH catalogs in his office, too, and they would list the matching cover for that box.

If you are still in need of a cover, email me, and I'll take a look in the next day or 2, and see if there are any covers that big left.

Most are in boxes, some may not be, so knowing the measurements of your breaker box would be helpfull.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I had thought about making a cover but without the proper sheet metal tools.....Well, I didn't want to cobble it up. I have been watching ebay but most people that have covers either don't know what they fit or don't have the cover number. I was hoping to find an old catalog so I could get the number so that I might do a more effective search. Still may have on made.

Thanks

J

If you would like I could make you one in my sheet metal shop. It's a small one man, part time shop I don't charge big wages.

Cuttler Hammer is now owned by Eaton Corp. They have several plants in Cleveland Tennesse. The Yellow pages show Eaton Corp, Cutler Hammer Products sales, 651 E 4th st, Cleveland TN (423) 634-3239. I think Cutler Hammers headquarters is there as well.

Use 16 gage cold rolled for the cover. I have never seen a panel cover for this size panel as heavy as 12 gage. Finding one is about like searching for a needle in a haystack. I save all such items I find and have a big collection which occasionally is useful. I do not have one of these.

I had to fabricate one years ago for an old 200 amp panel in a restuarant . Most of the panels for this place were in a small (and I mean small) closet. It was so small that just the heat from the panels kept it hot in there . It can be done & its a rewarding result . Take a piece of cardboard & carefully make a pattern & leave about 1/2" extra on the 4 sides for the bend to go over the outside of box . Unless yours is a flush mount front . You'll want to use at least 12 or 14 gauge tin . Then I used a very sharp chisel & a muffler air cutoff tool to cut out all breaker openings . Good luck . Ken

I would just make one out of some sheet metal that I have laying around. On second thought maybe you don't have any laying around, but maybe you could pick up some cheap at a salvage yard.
