Been thinking about Building a Disc Sander ,maybe a 12 inch one,, Does anyone know of a place to buy the Disc itself ,

i had a Fine Woodworking book somewhere that had several plans for large disk sanders. might fine it in a good library.

One of the catalogs I get has a flat plate that can be used as a sander in a table saw. I will look to see which supplier Monday when I am back at school.

Take a look at www.grizzly.com. For $129.95 they have a ral nice unit. Unless you have all the parts lying around AND your time is worth nothing this is hard to beat!

I run several homegrown "direct drive" bench motors for wirewheels,buffers,drill chuck,carbide disc etc.On these I use a threaded shaft motor adapter.I have been looking for a disk type plate,but have been unable to find anything pther than the plates for commercial models,which are way pricy or won't match up with my motor shaft,so heres the current game plan.
