Looked at a Bridgeport brand milling machine today. It is a verticl and horizontal mill. I have seen the 90 degree attachment for the vertical mill to use it horizontal. But this one has a horizontal drive coming thru the cast column below the ram arm. With two separate drive motors.I can not find any information on this model machine. Has anyone know any information about this or maybe have one? Thanks Del

I am from CT, near Bridgeport and I know a guy that went to the auction when Bridgeport went out of business about a year ago and he bought a machine just like you described. It has the vertical mill and then a horizontal mill built into the base. He said that Bridgeport made them for their own use only and his has a 9 speed gear box for the horizontal mill.

There are/were some foreign mills made that were a combo vert/horiz. style. Most were larger, more like the size of a Series 2 Bridgeport. I have seen them at auctions. Really a good idea, 2 machines in one.

sounds alot like our mill, ours is a cincinatti horizontal milling machine that someone welded a mount for a bridgport head to the overarm, this was fairly common years ago, i have seen a few different mills setup this way, i always wondered tho where they got the milling head, seems kinda unlikely to end up with a head but no milling machine to go with it?

are you sure it is a Bridgport brand? I have seen machine like you describe It was Brown & Sharp machine. Horizontal part was B&S and had a Bridgeprot head like you describe.

Thanks for takeing the time to reply. It is definitely a Bridgeport base and head. The casting and machineing look too good to be non factory made to me. I will post some pictures when I get it home. Del
