I have a Fairbanks Morse Engine #40797. What is the year of manufacture and what is it worth?

Are you sure of the serial number?
My book shows that serial numbers in 1911 started with 100408.

1-½ HP Model Z . Do you know if it will run on kerosene or gas?

John ~

Gas...I'm assuming this is throttle governed with a head that was introduced in 1918. This was the year they made changes to ignition. Went to spark plug ignition. For 1919 this model was priced at $75.00. GOOD LUCK!

John ~

If this is a throttle engine it could burn gas or kerosene....this was one of the selling points of the Z engine.
