Most 4-cycle small engines are rated for horsepower at 3600 rpm. However, very few ever come from the factory set for that RPM. Most B&S, and Tecumseh engines were equipped with governor springs set to limit the RPM to the 2800-3200 rpm range. ----- Your engine will probably live at 3600 rpm safely, but wear will be increased. Anything above that (for your engine) will be in the danger zone. ----- You will NOT find this info in a B&S manual, and there is not a "red-line" published for your engine. I worked at dealership for 25+ years, and the above comments are based on that experience.

Thanks for the info. I want to run a DC welder witch is rated at 3600 rpm. Was wondering if I should direct drive it or use pulleys to slow down the engine speed. Drill
