I'll be going to a tractor show this weekend (Berryville VA), and I *may* run across a seemingly good deal on a hit & miss engine. I have always wanted a small one just for fun, and would enjoy restoring one if it was complete.

My question is- are there any models to avoid? That is, are there any that have chronic design flaws and are hard starters, or break consistantly. I know some will tend to foul spark plugs unless you put the plug on a pipe elbow. Things like this...

I saw some very experienced fellows really sweating trying to get one of these to fire over. If they are having trouble, then what can I expect?

Also- what can I expect to pay for a decent (not beautiful) unit?
