Please be sure your handle is registered

I'll be reposting this on other forums but I'll start here. Please note that the vast majority of you don't have this problem.

If you don't have a registered handle, you won't be able to put html or images in a post. This shouldn't affect regular real YT users but there are a small number who post regularly with well-known handles whose handles are not registered. If you are one of those and you never put in html or images and don't mind if someone else permanently takes your handle over then you can ignore this.
Regular registered users who post at least occasionally will also have a lot less trouble with the potty filter in the future so if you are one of those who has run up against that, here is a chance for some relief.

There are two ways to tell if your handle is registered.

1. Go to test forum and post a message using your handle. Put a link in the url box, for example, just type in>Link

2. Another easier way is that after you post to a forum, click Return to Forum and then click on Modern View. If you look at the topic you just posted and find that it says "Guest" under your name, your handle is not registered.
If you find this is true, send me an email and I'll help you get registered. It may be a matter of deleting your cookies for yt and posting one more time with a password, I can help you with that by email. Once you are registered, after the first time you get your password in on Classic, you won't ever have to enter it again so there isn't any difference.
Contact me at support at ytmag.com ( use @ instead of " at " in my address).

Chris

I see I am registered. Pretty sure I was. I noticed a date on profile says 2005 when I joined. That must be the password registration date, right? Because I've been posting here since in the late 90s at least. Had several handles (none were very unique!) and other people were taking them until I finally realized that a pass word would be a good idea. I'm not very computer literate.

By figuring out what handles you had, it's possible to get the post counts but of course they won't be very accurate if other people used them. That's why I don't use "Chris" which was one of the first handles used on YT. It's got a bunch of Chris's posts and is a lot of work to figure out which are really mine.

In 'implement photos' a gentleman is trying to get info on a Baltic tiller. I posted twice in the last couple of days trying to help, but my post didn't go thru. I haven't had this happen before. Is something wrong with my registration? Thanks in advance.

Looks like you handle is good. Could it be a word in the post being caught by the spam filter. We still don't have the new stuff implemented on the production forums so that could be it.

Email me the text of what you've been trying to post to support at ytmag.com and I'll figure it out pretty quickly.
Thanks,

Chris

Randy, here's a website that should provide you with info on the Baltic/Baltimatic tillers and a list of dealers who can help you. Good luck. Link

If that was the exact post, it should work, there isn't any difference between the Site comments board and the Implements board?

Is being registered the same thing as having your handle reserved? My handle is reserved and requires a password. Thanks, Gene

Yes, good point, the Classic calls it reserved and Modern calls it registered, they are the same.

No, you are registered. If you look on the modern view at this topic, you'll see "New User" below the user name. That is proof. Anything other than guest is registered.

You are, can tell by the way the name displays. It says "New User" but that will go away pretty quickly.

It was only a few folks and I think it is the cookie from the old days that is still letting the post go in as anonymous. Your handle was registered a long time ago and came through just fine. We think it will help, not totally solve the problem but help.

If you just registered a new handle, it will still come up with the restrictions for a few days and until you've posted a few times. In others words, new users who haven't been around YT for long, will have the same restriction. In that case, we can help with that if you send me an email.

Yep, it is. On modern view, if you see the underline in blue, you know it's registered right away.
