Have 2 8N's one front mount distributor the other side mount that have both been converted but done seriously sloppy. Just a spider web of mismatched wires everywhere. I'm going to gut everything and start from scratch. Does anyone have a basic diagram to follow. Thought I saw one posted but can't seem to locate. Any help would be appreciated.

If they have been converted to 12V and using an alternator, then you don't need the voltage regulator.

If the side mount has a 12V round can coil then swap it out for one that requires no external resistance. That way, no ballast resistors or any others are needed. If you have a 1-wire alternator, then just run that 1 wire to the + side of the battery. If you have a 3-wire alternator then run BATT to the + battery, P2 to BATT, and P1 to the cold side of the ignition switch and put a diode in that line. If you replace the ignition switch with one that also has an ACC terminal then connect that line(P1) to the ACC terminal. No diode will be required in this last case.
