Hello,

12 Volt conversion on buddies tractor.

HoBo, I saw in one of the archived threads that you said these 5/8th - 3/4th width pulleys are really made for 3/4th thick belts. And that after a little wear will slip. Does anyone know where I can git the right pulley? That won't slip after a little wear? How wide is the factory 9N belt anyway? I suspect 5/8th thick. I'm about cross eyed now tryin to figure this out. I don't need any slips. Thanks.

I keep'em in stock,,, they are around $30,,, if need b I will git ya the part #,,, I am sure YT has'em also,,, it takes a 5/8" wide belt.

I know from experience the universals are trouble in the makeing used on a N,,, almost cost me a new battery,,, I am no different than most on some things,,, the price seamed rite for the universal witch is not universal at all,,, its for a 3/4' wide belt,,, some fool came up with a fit all name,,, recon i am lucky I only lost 12 bucks tring to beat the system,,, B came a fool.

What are you wanting to put the pulley on, mArK?

My 6v, positive ground, one wire Chevy alternator, that I had special built for my 49 8N, has the pulley that came off of the genny, that I replaced on it.

I spec you could git away with the gen pulley,, the 5/8" special pulley is rite much smaller in diameter,,, spin it up rite much better,,, I use the pulley off the gen on one of my farmalls,,, no problem,,,,

Dunk, My buddy has a parts tractor that he bought long ago and now wants to try and save it. It was stripped pretty well when he got it and is a long term project. I found a GM 10si alternator in my old (has half a roof) Hurricane Rita shop. I'm giving him the alternator but it has the small pulley. Needs the wider pulley. I'm gonna weld him up some brackets when the sun decides to comes out again.

Tom, I buy from Triodiode all the time. Actually bought about three hunnerd bucks worth of little odds and ends from em the other day. I figure it was about twenty five different parts. They had it all(every single part) in stock and on it's way here in less than eighteen hours. Amazing service!!!!

It appears to be an EBay store, Tom.
