a friend put a 1 wire GM alt on. The battery drains over night.
any body have a diagram that will help? If I understand he need a lite or something to break the circite when the tractor is shut off. Help me help an old gentelman. Thanks Bill

In that case (a real one-wire), it sounds like SouNdguy & dlplost have got you covered.

Disconnect the wire from the alternator , charge the battery, and then hook a test lamp up betweent he alternator charge post and the battery... if the lamp glows, time to get alt rebuilt/swapped.. etc...

The first question is,"is it really a ONE WIRE alternator?". This picture is NOT a one wire, as you see a stud on rear, and two other terminals. If yous is really one wire, the stud is the one and only connection.
